Welcome to Genesis Valor.

Our mission is to provide a safe, stable, respectful, and supportive living environment where every resident has the opportunity to rebuild their life, restore independence, and prepare for permanent housing and long-term success.

These House Rules are designed to promote safety, respect, accountability, and community living. Every resident is expected to understand and follow these rules as a condition of residency.

Resident Expectations

Residents agree to:

  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain a positive and safe community.
  • Take responsibility for personal behavior.
  • Participate in activities designed to improve independence.
  • Help maintain shared living spaces.
  • Respect staff, volunteers, visitors, and fellow residents.

Respect for Others

Residents shall:

  • Speak respectfully to everyone.
  • Avoid profanity directed toward others.
  • Respect different cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds.
  • Respect privacy.
  • Knock before entering another resident's room.
  • Never enter another resident's room without permission.

Harassment, intimidation, bullying, discrimination, threats, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Violence Policy

Genesis Valor maintains a Zero Tolerance policy for:

  • Fighting
  • Assault
  • Threats
  • Domestic violence
  • Intimidation
  • Possession of weapons
  • Gang-related behavior

Law enforcement may be contacted immediately when appropriate.

Alcohol and Drug Policy

Genesis Valor is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy living environment. Residents may not:

  • Possess illegal drugs.
  • Use illegal drugs.
  • Manufacture controlled substances.
  • Distribute drugs.
  • Possess drug paraphernalia.
  • Abuse prescription medications.
  • Consume alcohol on the property if prohibited by program requirements.
  • Be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs while on the property.

Residents prescribed medication shall use medications only as directed. Violation of this policy may result in immediate removal depending upon severity and applicable law.

Smoking Policy

Smoking and vaping are permitted only in designated outdoor smoking areas. Smoking is prohibited:

  • Inside the home
  • Bedrooms
  • Bathrooms
  • Hallways
  • Garages
  • Vehicles owned by Genesis Valor

Residents must properly dispose of cigarette materials.

Weapons

The following are prohibited on the property:

  • Firearms
  • Ammunition
  • Explosives
  • Illegal knives
  • BB guns
  • Pellet guns
  • Tasers (unless legally authorized)
  • Any object used as a weapon

Any weapon discovered may be reported to law enforcement.

Visitors

Visitors are welcome only during approved visiting hours. Visitors:

  • Must sign in if required.
  • Must follow all house rules.
  • Must remain in approved common areas unless authorized.
  • May not disturb other residents.

Residents are responsible for the conduct of their visitors. Unauthorized overnight guests are prohibited.

Quiet Hours

10:00 PM – 7:00 AM

During quiet hours residents shall:

  • Keep televisions at low volume.
  • Wear headphones when appropriate.
  • Avoid loud conversations.
  • Avoid slamming doors.
  • Respect residents who are sleeping.

Curfew

Residents must comply with established curfew unless prior approval has been granted. Failure to return by curfew without authorization may result in disciplinary action.

Bedroom Standards

Residents are expected to:

  • Make beds daily.
  • Keep clothing organized.
  • Empty trash regularly.
  • Keep food out of bedrooms unless authorized.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly.

Room inspections may occur with reasonable notice or when necessary for health or safety.

Cleanliness

Residents share responsibility for maintaining:

  • Kitchen
  • Bathrooms
  • Living areas
  • Laundry room
  • Outdoor areas

Cleaning schedules may be assigned. Residents are expected to clean up after themselves immediately.

Laundry

  • Clean lint filters.
  • Remove clothing promptly.
  • Keep laundry area clean.
  • Respect laundry schedules.

Kitchen Rules

  • Clean dishes immediately after use.
  • Wipe countertops.
  • Label personal food.
  • Dispose of expired food.
  • Respect shared refrigerator space.

Food belonging to another resident may not be used without permission.

Meals

When meals are provided:

  • Residents should arrive on time.
  • Everyone will be treated respectfully.
  • Food waste should be minimized.

Property Care

Residents shall protect Genesis Valor property. Residents are financially responsible for intentional or negligent damage they cause.

Personal Property

Genesis Valor is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings. Residents are encouraged to secure valuables.

Parking

Vehicles must:

  • Be legally registered.
  • Be insured.
  • Be operational.
  • Park only in designated spaces.

Unauthorized vehicles may be towed.

Employment and Personal Development

Residents are encouraged to actively pursue:

  • Employment
  • Education
  • Vocational training
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Financial stability
  • Permanent housing

Participation requirements will be explained individually.

Appointments

Residents should make every effort to attend:

  • Medical appointments
  • VA appointments
  • Court obligations
  • Counseling appointments
  • Employment interviews

Transportation assistance may be available depending on program resources.

Emergency Procedures

Residents shall immediately report:

  • Fire
  • Medical emergencies
  • Criminal activity
  • Suspicious behavior
  • Property damage
  • Unsafe conditions

Residents must comply with all evacuation procedures.

Fire Safety

Residents may not:

  • Tamper with smoke detectors.
  • Tamper with fire extinguishers.
  • Block exits.
  • Use candles or open flames.
  • Use unauthorized space heaters or hot plates.

Internet and Electronics

Residents shall use Wi-Fi responsibly. Illegal downloading, hacking, harassment, pornography involving illegal content, or activities that threaten network security are prohibited.

Social Media

Residents are encouraged to respect the privacy of fellow residents. Residents shall not post photographs or personal information about other residents without their permission.

Conflict Resolution

Residents are encouraged to resolve disagreements respectfully. If conflicts cannot be resolved:

  1. Speak respectfully with the other individual.
  2. Request staff assistance.
  3. Participate in mediation if appropriate.

Violence is never an acceptable solution.

Grievance Process

Residents have the right to express concerns without retaliation. Concerns may be submitted verbally or in writing. Every grievance will be reviewed fairly.

Progressive Discipline

Depending upon the severity of the violation, Genesis Valor may use:

  • Verbal warning
  • Written warning
  • Behavioral improvement plan
  • Temporary restrictions
  • Probationary status
  • Suspension of privileges
  • Termination of residency

Certain serious violations may result in immediate discharge.

Immediate Grounds for Removal

The following may result in immediate termination of residency:

  • Violence
  • Threats
  • Weapons
  • Drug trafficking
  • Theft
  • Intentional property destruction
  • Criminal conduct on the property
  • Repeated serious rule violations
  • Behavior creating imminent danger to others

Resident Rights

Every resident has the right to:

  • Be treated with dignity.
  • Live in a safe environment.
  • Be free from discrimination.
  • Have personal privacy.
  • Practice their religion.
  • Submit grievances.
  • Be treated fairly.

Resident Responsibilities

Every resident agrees to:

  • Follow these House Rules.
  • Respect others.
  • Maintain cleanliness.
  • Cooperate with staff.
  • Be honest.
  • Work toward personal independence.
  • Contribute positively to the community.
